Numinous by Michaela Barochová
Numinous jewellery delves into the depths of the subconscious, where perceptions intertwine with personal narratives. Inspired by the Rorschach test, each piece is an inkblot transferred onto metal using the photoetching technique, cast in sterling silver, and made to order in gold, and gold-plated. Numinous jewellery serves as talismans to keep close and invites wearers to explore the mysterious depths of their inner world, uncovering meanings that resonate uniquely with them.
All jewellery is handmade by Michaela Barochová in her London studio and hallmarked at the Assay Office in London.

The Origin of The Word Numinous
Numinous refers to something that evokes a sense of awe, mystery, or the presence of the divine. It often describes an experience that feels spiritual or otherworldly—like a powerful storm, a waterfall crashing over rocks, the ocean at night, or a breathtaking view from the mountains. It's the profound sense of being present and deeply connected to something far greater.
The word numinosum (adj. numinous) was given its present sense by the German theologian and philosopher Rudolf Otto in his book ’The Idea of Holy’ in 1917. He explains this word as a non-rational, non-sensory experience or feeling whose primary and immediate object is outside the self. A presence of awesome power and divinity.
